A total of 31 “colegas” – members of the EA Class of ’69 (aka “Saco ‘69”) along with members of several other classes, friends and family – met for a weekend reunion at the Lago Mar Hotel and Resort in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, July 9-11, 2004, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the class’ graduation. The following weekend, a group of 7 met for a luncheon in Rio to celebrate the occasion. This web page is intended to share photos of these events – in hopes of bringing back great memories, making us all feel a little “closer”, and encouraging everyone to attend future reunions!
The Lago Mar was a perfect site – right on the praia, beautiful lagoon piscina, and excellent “just like Rio” hot/humid weather and atmosphere. Activities at the Lago Mar reunion included:
| Welcome reception/dinner on Friday night – an outdoor cookout – name badges with photos from the yearbook on them – lots of laughs! | |
| Dinner Saturday night at a rodizio style churrascaria, including caipirinhas and a great impromptu speech by Dr. Brown (who, along with wife Shirley, attended the whole reunion). | |
| Hospitality suite receptions each night – including reviewing old yearbooks and the Tatui newspapers, copies of old Brazil Herald front pages, and other photos and memorabilia. | |
| Breakfasts and lunches out in the fresh air by the pool. | |
| A fun dinner at a Cuban restaurant on Sunday evening for the 18 who “just had” to stay one more night! |
The Rio luncheon was held at the PAX restaurant at Praça Nossa Senhora da Paz. It was enjoyed by all who attended – all of whom said: “Que pena that more of our friends could not attend because this was sooooo much fun and they really would have enjoyed it!!!”

The next Saco ’69 reunion is already in early planning stages – currently targeted to be in Southern California in the summer of 2006 – organized by Diana Taylor. We hope to see you there!!
